Why was my submission rejected?

Please note that I am becoming more discerning when adding scripts to the archive. Previously, almost every submission was added, but with the archive's ever-increasing size, it is now necessary to exercise a degree of quality control to prevent it becoming bloated and making it difficult for visitors to find the script they need. Submissions may be rejected if the script:

  • Does not have a header (i.e. comments at the top of the script) containing the version number, author's name, and a basic description of the script.
  • Replaces a script already in the archive, but the version number has not been updated. People who've already downloaded the script will not realise the script has been changed, or they'll be confused by the fact that the same apparent version reappears in updates to the archive. It can also create confusion for developers and helpers—when a user tells them they're using "v1.2", no one may realise they have an earlier, buggier "v1.2".
  • Is very small and doesn't offer significantly unique functionality.
  • Is a modification or customisation of another author's script already in the archive, but the changes are poorly-implemented or unlikely to have wide appeal, or insufficent credit is given to the original author.
  • Is a modification misleadingly labelled as an update. Unless you have permission from the original author to take over development of the script, don't take "v2.0" and name it "v3.0". Instead, append something to the script's name (e.g. "SomeScript v2.0 for SillyNet") or version number (e.g. "SomeScript v2.0-Harry").
  • Contains very poor code or obvious security flaws. Generally, I don't have time to examine the code in submitted scripts, but sometimes these things stick out like a sore thumb.
  • Contains flood/takeover functions or is explicitly intended for "piracy".
